Okay, for those of you who have taken a ride on a wooden roller coaster, on a scale of 1-10 how rough was the ride? You’re probably thinking somewhere in the 10 range. Extremely bumpy and rough. Now think of how your car rides. Hopefully, depending on your car type, you’re giving it somewhere in the 1-3 range. That’s the beauty of suspension and steering. Suspension can make a huge difference on the handling, comfort, and performance that we experience in our vehicles.
Suspension
Vehicle suspension is what makes your car comfortable and stable. By increasing friction between the tires and the road, the car is movable and safer. Bumps, imperfections in surfaces, and turns are all handled more easily because of suspension.
Steering
It’s pretty obvious to see the importance of steering in your vehicle. Basically, power steering is made possible by a fluid pump and helps to assist you in your turning. There are different types and structures of steering systems, which we won’t get into, but just know that steering would be difficult without them.
Working Together
Steering and suspension combine to make your car maneuverable, safe, and comfortable. They work together to make sure that the vehicle can impact a bump and continue on it’s way without problems.
