We have been servicing Volvos since 1974. We have been on the leading edge of service and collaborating with other top shops throughout the country this whole time. This has given us a competitive advantage over local shops found in Rochester, Syracuse and Ithaca. We spend thousands of dollars each year on Volvo factory tooling, repair information and continual training.
We were the first shop in the area to have Vadis and now Vida. We have the ability to work on your car wirelessly through our DiCE connector and program any part on your car.
We would never dream of trying to service your Volvo without the factory Volvo diagnostic equipment. We have seen so many hack jobs that we are wise enough to know that you can do a lot more damage than good without the proper tooling. You would be absolutely wasting money bringing your car anywhere else.
Breather System Updates
Every engine has a crankcase ventilation system. This can also be referred to as a pcv system. This system will require maintenance as it gets older. The system recirculates oil and crankcase vapors into the intake system so that they can be burned off rather than sent directly into the environment. The oil will eventually clump up and cause this system to clog. This will lead to a positive crankcase pressure and you will find that your car begins to consume and also leak oil. Many shops will overlook the crankcase ventilation and simply repair the oil leaks. Most oil leaks can be remedied by relieving the pressure created by the plugged system.
Timing Belts I just had my timing belt replaced at XXXX shop and now my check engine light is on and my car runs poorly. We have heard this a hundred times. All Volvos after 1999 require that you use a special too to setup the Variable Valve Timing. It is near impossible to perform this job without the special tooling. Unfortunately we have to take the whole timing belt off again to set it up
On every timing belt job we replace the water pump, tensioner pulley, idler pulley and hydraulic tensioner. We have had to replace many head gaskets for the simple reason that someone did not replace one of these components and they seized causing the belt to fall off and destroy the engine. When the timing belt falls off the valves smash into the tops of the pistons and destroy themselves. This is when you have to remove the cylinder head and find out the extent of the damage. We can typically repair the cylinder head and install new valves but sometimes full engine replacement is the only alternative.
XC90 Transmissions
Do you have a Service Transmission Urgent light on? Unfortunately this was a common problem on the early Volvo XC90’s. If you take your vehicle to the dealership the automatically replace your radiator and transmission cooler lines. We have a simple test to see if those parts are actually bad. This will save you over a $1000. If you are having a problem, then feel free to call us and find out about towing. We will get you back on the road quickly.
Volvo Angle Gear Leakage
Have you lost your all wheel drive or is your driveline making noise? If you go the Volvo dealership they will always replace the whole angle gear assembly. We have saved so many of these angle gear units by simply resealing them. The fluid replacement interval on these units is often overlooked if you bring your vehicle to a shop that doesn’t specialize in Volvo. Here we take the extra time to service your angle gear and if it is leaking we always try to reseal the unit before charging you thousands of dollars for replacement.
WHIPS Repair
Is your seat loose in your Volvo? Is there a possibility that it was ever in an accident? Every Volvo after 1998 has special safety equipment built into their seats. They are called WHIPS and are
